Problem statement
How can seniors make daily food choices that align with their medical conditions and nutritional needs?

1. Problem
Physical Problem
Reduced appetite and slower metabolism can cause seniors to under-eat or skip meals, making it difficult to meet condition specific nutritional needs.
2. Problem

Too many options
Too many food options make it difficult for seniors to select meals that meet their medical and nutritional needs, often leading to default choices that conflict with their health conditions.

Solution

Customer segment
Users need recommendations for restaurants that offer diverse and balanced menus similar to healthy diets.

Mental aspect
Creating the Fooni user flow
Based on research, I visualized the emotions, behaviors, and goals that users may experience at each stage of app usage

Market trend research
Elderly meal apps lacked restaurant options, delivery services, and social features for mental well-being. I enhanced these aspects in my solution.

Refinement 1

Before
After
Maximizing visibility and info flow
I divided one diet chart into three sections for seniors with poor vision to easily visualize nutrient intake distribution. Additionally, I modified it to display daily recommended intake achievement at a glance.
Refinement 2

Before

After
Boosting nutrition info
I updated the system to show how well menu items match the user's selected diet. Users can click the nutrition % card to check the consistency between the restaurant's ingredients and their diet.
IA
Overall, I designed it to be user-friendly for the elderly. The navigation is primarily focused on meal planning, timing, and delivery. I incorporated AI to include features such as alarms and conversational functions.

AI diet mangement
Mealtime control and nutrition info
Users can check their daily calorie intake and meal times. They can also see how close they are to their recommended calorie intake, identify any deficient nutrients, and know which meal times they missed all at once.

AI delivery system
Diet-friendly restaurant menu suggestions
The AI recommends restaurants offering menus similar to the user's selected diet. The restaurant's menu is ranked based on similarity in nutritional composition to the user's chosen diet.

AI analysis
Diet history page
Users can track their average daily, weekly, and monthly calorie intake and compare it with recommended levels. Additionally, the AI analyzes nutrient consumption, identifies deficiencies, and provides users with insights on how well they've met their nutritional goals.

Users can save their favorite diets and restaurant menus, and based on these saved preferences, the AI can analyze and provide recommendations on what foods and nutrients the user should consume more of.

I will create small challenges to encourage appetite and facilitate mealtime for seniors, such as walking for 30 minutes a day or drinking 1.2 liters of water. These solutions aim to give seniors a sense of accomplishment and stimulate their appetite.
Making the small challenge for seniors
Most senior-focused apps are designed for users with children. However, seniors living alone are more likely to skip meals. While AI features help, relying solely on AI has limitations. To address this, I plan to introduce premium features offering one-on-one counseling with health professionals for better health management.
Features tailored for solitary seniors
Reflection and Next step
Conduct more specialized research on dietary plans
It's crucial to research diets tailored to the elderly's medical conditions, as a healthy diet for one person may be harmful to another. Given seniors' reduced appetites and preference for stimulating foods,I am committed to exploring alternative options to ensure they meet their nutritional needs
